Imladris Farms (pronounced em'-la-dris) is our recreation of Walter's great-grandparent's farm. The Marlowe family has been a driving force in the Spring Mountain community since they immigrated here from Ireland in the early 1800's. This particular piece of land has been in and out of the family since it was obtained by an early ancestor by land grant. Most recently, all of the family land was purchased by my grandfather, Burgin Marlowe, in the 1940's, from an uncle (Lane Chatham) then split amongst the family. The present location of Imladris Farms was given to Burgin's parents, Fred and Mabel Marlowe. It already included a farmhouse from before the turn of the century. Fred and Mabel made numerous changes to the farmhouse and added a freestanding garage/toolshed and a stone springhouse. Since we inherited the farm in 1997 we have found numerous fruit trees, nut trees, berry bushes, flower beds, etc., including apple and plum trees over 50 years old, raspberries, gooseberries, hostas, and other fruits and flowers. |

Imladris Farms is located southeast of Asheville, North Carolina, in the small mountain community of Fairview. To find us, leave Asheville on US 74 East, climb to the top of Minehole Gap, then turn left on Old Fort Rd. Go five miles out Old Fort and turn left on Little Pond Rd. We're the last place on Little Pond. |

Imladris was founded on a belief in quality products achieved through sustainable agriculture. We feel strongly that animals and plants, if supported and nurtured, will yield high quality materials unavailable through conventional, commercial means. We've made it our goal to return to early, simpler methods of agriculture and living. |
